Description: A smoke filled glass tube is viewed with a microscopic camera.

Room:PS F175 Location: Be2 Sublocation:
Type: demo Date Added:12/8/2000 Condition:
Quantity:1 Complete: Last updated: 8/24/2006
Purpose:
Safety Issues: Be sure to backstop the laser. The glass tube acts as a line generator and spreads the beam out. Disclaimer (Warning - work in progress - may be incomplete)
Equipment Issues: Objective lens does get a smoke film. Remove the silver lens “shroud” and clean the lens after use.
Parts: Camera – Watec LCL-903K held with rod-mounted Panavise knuckle (0 - 3)
Lens – 5x microscope objective with Edmund DIN objective to C-mount adapter & full length extension tube. (O-3)
Laser – laser level in spot mode on dual lab jacks
Smoke cell – 6mm O.D. glass tubing x 25mm long inserted in rubber grommet for support and taped with electrical tape directly to end of microscope objective to hold & seal it at base. Small piece of electrical tape covers open end of tube to seal that end. Be sure it is well pressed down.
