Meterstick "Kater" Pendulum

Catalog:
3A15.70B
Location:
Ba1
As discribed by Randall D. Peters, "Student-Friendly Percision Pendulum", The Physics Teacher, Vol.37, Oct. 1999. A meterstick setup to oscillate about an axis at its upper end and another axis approximately 66.6cm from the first.

A collection of eight tubes cut to the length for musical notes (from shortest to longest) C,B,A,G,F,E,D, and C with each note a unique color. There are also caps for each tube to change the end of the tube from an antinode to a node. A musical book is included which is color coded for each note.

Resonance Reeds

This shows the "teeth" that vibrate one at a time depending on the speed.
Catalog:
3A60.50A
Location:
Ba3
A brass disk spins very fast. As it slows down the shortest "tooth" vibrates. As it further slows the longer teeth vibrate one at a time. A resonance, or vibrating-reed, tachometer uses a series of consecutively tuned reeds to determine engine speed by indicating the vibration frequency of the machine.

A set of steel reeds mounted on a common strip which is excited by a variable speed motor with an unbalanced flywheel.

Spring Coupled Pendula
