When large objects are ajitated in a mixture of small objects the large objects tend to be attracted together. The large objects create a void that prevents the small objects from striking other objects because the small objects path is blocked by by the large object. As two large objects approach each other they are attracted since the small objects are blocked from knocking the objects away.
