The top assembly includes a lecture laser, a force sensor. The force sensor must be fastened to the spring so that it has no play. Any slack energy taken from here is removed from the Wiberforce pendulum's ability to twist.

The graph shows the vertical motion and the force are maximum at the same time. The angular velocity of the Wilberforce pendulum is greatest when the motion of the spring is at a minimum.
Safety:
Never look directly at light from a laser directly or from reflections and wear protective eyewear.

Description:

Energy transfers between vertical and torsional modes.

Instructions:

Make sure that when using the frorce sensor that the spring can not twist. I used a small wire to fasten the spring to the force sensor hook.
The laser switch has to be aligned carefully.

Plug the Motion Sensor stereo plugs yellow in channel one and black in channel 2
Plug the laser switch stereo plug into channel 3
Plug the DIN connector of the Foce Sensor into first analog channel.

Drag Motion sensor icon to the first two channels.
Drag the Force Sensor icon to the first analog channel.
Drag the Smart Pulley to the third digital channel. Do not drag the laser switch icon since this requires additional set up.
