Area Dependence of Friction

This demo has two pieces, a long wooden board with a V-shaped valley and a flat block with a peg on top. The flat block is slid across the top of the long board, changing the contact surface area between the two objects. A force sensor is used to measure the force required to drag the flat block across the board.
