Bouyant Force (Archimedes)

Description
Lowering a weight into water demonstrates the buoyant force as described by Archimedes' principle. By suspending a sphere from a spring scale and gradually immersing it into a beaker of water, the change in scale reading illustrates the reduction in apparent weight due to the upward buoyant force exerted by the displaced water. This force is equal to the weight of the water displaced by the sphere. This experiment visually and quantitatively confirms that the buoyant force acting on an object in a fluid is a direct result of the fluid displacement.
