Description
A bimetal strip composed of brass and steel bends when heated in a Bunsen burner flame due to the differing coefficients of thermal expansion of the two metals. Brass expands more than steel when heated, causing the strip to curve towards the steel side. This demonstrates the principle of thermal expansion and is a practical application in devices such as thermostats and thermometers, where precise temperature control is needed.
