Braun electroscope

Description
The Braun electroscope is a sensitive device used to measure electrostatic voltages. It consists of a well-balanced needle or vane that deflects in response to an applied electrostatic charge. When a charged object is brought near the electroscope, the charge induces a movement in the needle proportional to the voltage of the charged object. This deflection can be used to measure the potential difference to a few kilovolts.
