Magdeburg hemispheres - Welch

Description
The Welch Magdeburg hemispheres are evacuated using a pump, demonstrating the strength of atmospheric pressure. Once the air is removed, the external atmospheric pressure holds the hemispheres together so tightly that considerable force is needed to separate them. This classic experiment illustrates the magnitude of atmospheric pressure and its ability to generate substantial force over a given surface area.
