Equal length different masses pendula

Description

This demonstration uses pendula of equal length but with bobs of different masses. When set into motion, these pendula swing with the same period, showing that the mass of the bob does not affect the period of a simple pendulum. This experiment emphasizes that the period of a pendulum is determined solely by its length and the acceleration due to gravity, not by the mass of the bob, thereby illustrating a key concept in simple harmonic motion.
